The feeling that arose between 8-year-old Britta Bergeson and a cat named Justice is easiest to describe as «love at first sight.» And to put it bluntly — from half a glance, because when the animal was taken to the shelter, her eyes were so injured that the veterinarians had to remove them. The girl saw a photo of a completely blind Justice on the shelter’s website and immediately declared to the whole family — she will live with me! But what parents in their right mind would want to take a blind animal for a child?
Did the refusal stop Britta? Three times. The girl turned out to be more persistent and smarter than other adults. Instead of throwing tantrums and begging for a cat, she approached the issue of indoctrination of parents creatively. And she drew, quite well, a comic book — in it Britta plays with a blind cat.
You’ve already figured it out, right? The eight-year-old girl was well aware of what the main problem of Justice was, did not shy away from it and wanted to help the blind cat. The unfortunate animal has turned into a symbol of care for her, a creature that is in dire need of love and affection. And the chances of getting them from Justice are few — who, besides Brita, needs a blind cat?
Drawing comics was interspersed with stories about how she would arrange the life of Justice and take care of her. Parents listened-listened and gave up. A couple of weeks later, the family went to the shelter and Britta needed only one cat — Justice. And that, as the volunteers and parents realized in surprise, needed a girl. Instead of natural caution, the blind animal immediately clung to the new owner and purred.
Justice has turned into Lucky Luck. That’s what Britta decided. When they were returning from the shelter, the girl said: «We are lucky that we have her, and she is lucky that we took her away!». So, Luck.
