Tina Gibson carried her daughter out of an embryo frozen almost three decades ago. It was frozen in the early 90s, and transplanted to an American woman in the winter of this year.
The baby was born healthy. This is the second child carried out of the frozen embryo by Tina. The previous embryo was frozen for 24 years.
Then Tina named the born girl Emma.
The 29-year-old native of the USA became a mother thanks to the National Medical Center, which worked on the basis of a religious enterprise.
Embryos were stored in the center, which became in some way «refuseniks», because for one reason or another they decided not to use them by women who were shown in vitro fertilization.
Members of the religious club, as well as other interested persons, had the opportunity to adopt such embryos.
The doctor, who works in a clinic that treats infertility, said that embryos that are in a state of freezing do not have a certain period during which they can be used.
However, it is important to understand that the risks of embryo degradation increase over time, since the freezing method used at that time was imperfect.
After the Gibson family gave birth to their eldest daughter, Tina was diagnosed with infertility. The couple wanted to take advantage of the possibilities of classic adoption, but after she learned that it was possible to use a frozen embryo.
