The world’s first surviving seven-year-olds have already grown up

On November 19, 1997, Bobby and Kenny McCaughey had seven-year-olds. This is a real miracle, especially considering that all seven survived. Now they are adults and begin to build their own lives.

We will tell you about the fate of these wonderful kids.

Their parents already had a daughter, Michaela, but dreamed of a second child. After unsuccessful attempts, they decided on IVF. Seven transplanted embryos took root, and the religious couple, contrary to the advice of doctors and the reproaches of the public, refused to get rid of one of the future babies. Four boys and three girls were born at the 31st week of pregnancy very young: their weight ranged from 900 to 1400 grams. The children were given the names Kelsey, Alexis, Nathan, Joel, Brandon, Kenny Jr. and Natalie. But two (Alexis and Nathan) were diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

Immediately after the birth of the babies, the McCaughey family gained incredible popularity, attracted media attention and received a huge number of gifts from various charitable organizations: babysitting services, a year’s supply of macaroni and cheese, a large spacious house, a van, hundreds of packs of diapers. Also, their friends from the religious community allocated more than 30 volunteers who provided all possible assistance for 4-5 hours every day. All this was very useful to Kenny and Bobby, because their kids spent more than 50 diapers a day and drank more than 40 bottles of milk. Gradually, the interest of the press subsided, and the family began to adapt to an independent life without outside help. It took about $400 for food, and I had to save on everything. Children earned money for gadgets on their own. All seven children showed success: they studied well, helped each other and even had their own small income.

Today, the fates of the seven-year-olds are also developing successfully. Nathan, Joel, Natalie and Kelsey took advantage of the opportunity to study for free at Hannibal-Lagrange University. Alexis and Kenny chose the local college, and Brandon chose to serve in the army. Kenny Jr. dreams of becoming a builder, Alexis has chosen a teaching profession, Kelsey dreams of building a musical career, Natalie plans to teach elementary school children, Nathan is a future computer scientist, and Joel also decided to master programming. Now that all the children have started an independent life and left their home, parents admit that they are even more worried about their children. Kenny and Bobby need to get used to living without their eldest daughter and seven-year-olds.
