Zane Pauls, an elementary school teacher from the British city of Grimsby, walks 8 kilometers every day to deliver free lunches to 78 students. Zane is a former military man, a fitness fanatic, holds the post of assistant director of the school and often takes part in sports events from various charitable organizations.
He carries 78 lunches in backpacks and bags. This is a heavy load weighing 18 kg. A free lunch for one child includes sandwiches, a biscuit, a pack of chips and an apple. Pauls says that the discomfort of a heavy burden is nothing compared to the trials faced by the parents of his students, who are forced to stay at home in self—isolation.
«Some even ask for extra homework,» the teacher admits. After three weeks of his «mission», Pauls has already become a local legend, although he is embarrassed when he is called that. «My job is to take care of children and raise them,» he says. Children greet him with painted posters as a sign of gratitude. Even the local police admire the selfless teacher.
