26-year-old Katie Crowe from England became the mother of a unique triplet. The fact is that all three boys were born from one egg, and this phenomenon happens extremely rarely – one case per 200 million pregnancies. As a rule, triplets are born from two eggs. Two children turn out to be exactly the same, and the third is different from them.
Katie already had a 4-year-old son, Jacob, and she got pregnant naturally for the second time, without IVF and some kind of stimulation. At week 12, during routine screening, the doctor found that instead of one fetus, the girl develops as many as three, and even such unique ones. Katie was shocked by the news, as was her husband Rob. The couple began to worry about how they would be able to raise so many children at once.
Despite the multiple pregnancy, the pregnancy proceeded normally. Every two weeks, doctors performed ultrasound, observing the development of babies. At 26 weeks, doctors discovered that one fetus had stopped growing and Crowe was prescribed steroids. Planned labor was supposed to happen at 32 weeks, but Katie went into labor 14 days earlier. A caesarean section was urgently performed, as a result of which three healthy boys were born. Tommy had the smallest weight – 1.23 kg, Eddie weighed 1.46 kg, and Joshua – 1.49 kg.
The babies were copies of each other, it was impossible to distinguish them. At first, the parents did not even remove the name tags in order to somehow distinguish their sons.
Almost two months later, the twins were discharged from the hospital, and Tommy stayed 10 days longer than his brothers. Finally, the whole family was at home, it was such happiness for them.
Neighbors decided to support parents with many children. They bought a lot of packs with diapers and other accessories for babies, brought and left it all on the doorstep of the house.
Now Katie admits that she became the happiest mom on the planet, but when she first found out about triplets, she was very worried about it and even cried.
