John McClain and his wife Catherine found an eight-month-old girl left by her father in their barn.
The couple said they heard a truck leaving their house early in the morning, after which they decided to check the security cameras. On the footage, the couple saw a man who tried to break into their son’s truck, after which he stole a neighbor’s car and fled the scene.
After a while, they noticed that their dog, named Archie, was constantly spinning around the barn and barking. John went outside to check what had caught the dog’s attention and found the baby with bruises on his face and body.
“She was only wearing a dress, there was no diaper,” Katherine said. She immediately wrapped the girl in a towel and took her home while her husband dialed the emergency number.
Sometime later, the stolen car was found, and the hijacker was captured.He had visible injuries on his body, according to law enforcement officials. The man said he was hit by a train.
The man was charged with causing serious bodily harm to a child as well as stealing a vehicle. He is currently in a jail, on bail of more than $200,000 (11.8 million rubles). Further investigation is underway.
Earlier it was reported that in the UK, a man stole a family car without noticing that a two-year-old girl was in the back seat. The shocked parents called the police and told about the incident.
