Californian Nadia Suleman set a kind of record in 2009, giving birth to 8 children at once. Moreover, all eight survived and are growing up healthy.
Nadia was called a «supermama» and an «eight-mom» on this occasion. In no small part because before the birth of the eight, she already had six, among whom were twin sons.
And it’s hard to guess what prompted a woman in her 33 years to decide on such a risky motherhood? Especially when you consider that she had no husband at the time of the birth of eight.
And one of the doctors of the local hospital agreed to such a risky experiment with IVF, when 12 embryos were placed in the uterus instead of the 2-3 embryos prescribed according to the protocol. But, anyway, the father of the children is still unknown and has not been announced, and the one who called himself a donor, Nadia herself accused of lying.
The life of the family is not easy: payments from the state are sorely lacking, although my mother is helped by neighbors and friends. At first, the family received a good income from participating in reality shows that were filmed specifically about this family, but over time there were fewer and fewer such offers from TV crews.
And in society, Suleman was treated ambiguously. In particular, the woman was accused of spending too much money on her appearance instead of investing in raising children.
It even got to the point that because of a million-dollar debt, the family’s house was put up for auction. And yet Nadia then managed to restore her reputation. Not least because she was able to get an education and began working with problem children and with women who found themselves in a difficult life situation.
Now the eldest child Suleman is nineteen, and the younger eight are eleven.
