An American named Rubin Swift flew from Ohio to Phoenix for four hours, thinking only about one thing — how is she, his newborn daughter Ru-Andrea? Her mother refused the child and the father arranged custody in advance, the last little things remained, to pick up the child from the hospital and take him home. But he did not know that the bureaucracy had already prepared a hard blow for him. 
Being a good, caring father, Rubin decided to prepare everything in advance. I bought tickets for the return flight of Frontier Airlines and looked at them at the counter to clarify: what are the rules of flying with a baby? He was informed that he needed a birth certificate and a certificate from the hospital, about the absence of contraindications for the flight. Father got all this without any problems, but when he arrived at the airport with a crumb of Ru-Andrea in his arms, he was told: wait, you can’t get on the plane.
The documents were in order, but the internal rules of this airline allow flights for children who are at least 7 days old. Ru-Andrea was only 4 days old, so just wait three days. Uh-huh, with a baby in her arms, in the middle of the airport. Rubin asked for the money for the ticket to be returned to him — I will get home in another way. But the representatives of the airline just threw up their hands: sorry, not earlier than in seven days. And dad and daughter were left without money, without a place to stay and the opportunity to return home.
While Rubin was flying halfway across the country for his daughter, immediately after birth she was in the care of Joy Ringhofer, an ex-nurse, and now a volunteer at the hospital. And the discouraged father could not think of anything better than to ask for help from her — he saw how an elderly woman held his daughter and knew that she had a kind heart. Rubin didn’t want to be arrogant either, he thought he would just borrow a car or ask to take him and his daughter home, even though the path is not close. But Ringhofer decided otherwise — she insisted that the father and daughter become her guests.
Three days later, when Ru-Andrea turned seven days old, she and her father quietly flew home. The airline does not feel any guilt, rules are rules, but for ordinary Americans, this story has become an example of how mutual assistance and compassion should defeat bureaucracy. Joy Ringhofer knew that Rubin and his daughter needed help, and without hesitation let a complete stranger into her house. But now they have become best friends and Rubin swore that he would come to her call at any time.
