“And they lived happily ever after” – it is with these words that many love stories end, on which more than one generation has grown. However, they live not only on the pages of books, but also often found in real life, and if you need proof of that, then we have it!
Caroline and Kelly Gay celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 12th of this year. Yes, the couple has been married for half a century and decided to mark the occasion in the most charming way possible! The couple decided to hire a photographer to recreate photos from their wedding day half a century ago.
The couple decided to recreate their wedding photos 50 years later. The couple is still happily married after more than 50 years of marriage.
The idea to recreate wedding pictures came from Carolyn, who was quick to share it with her husband Kelly. To his wife’s surprise, Kelly readily agreed to the idea.
The couple turned to photographer, who was able to replicate the photos from the old wedding album as accurately as possible.
The photographer even recreated a shot in which the candlesticks in the background seem to grow out of the heads of the spouses.
The couple was even dressed in the same outfits they wore on the day of the ceremony back in 1971.
For 50 years of marriage, the couple went through many hardships. Carolyn managed to overcome breast cancer, and Kelly went through a kidney transplant. Now Carolyn and Kelly are active members of the Iowa Donor Network. They have 3 children and 4 grandchildren.
While not many couples can save their marriage and have a golden wedding, Carolyn doesn’t see her union with Kelly as unique. They’ve really gone through quite a few hardships together, but they don’t know if they’ve gone through anything more than other couples.
According to Carolyn, they just managed to overcome difficult moments and enjoy all the good things that happened in their life together.
This couple proves by their own example that true love is not afraid of years or obstacles.
It was a great idea for the couple to repeat the wedding photo shoot, but the most beautiful thing is that even after half a century they still look at each other with loving eyes.
