A rare woman does not dream of a magic pill that will help to eat anything and at the same time not gain extra pounds. But scientists, alas, have not yet invented such a thing. But they are conducting experiments, the results of which are encouraging: our diets may be a little less strict.
So, experts from Harvard Medical School and the Spanish University of Murcia said: milk chocolate in the morning and in the evening is good for women’s health.
According to a study published in the authoritative edition of The FASEB Journal, a piece of chocolate at breakfast or before going to bed reduces blood sugar levels, and also helps to remove extra pounds.
Scientists found out this with the help of an experiment in which 19 postmenopausal women participated. They were divided into three groups: those who were in the first, ate as usual, in the second — ate 100 grams of milk chocolate — that is, a whole bar! — within an hour after waking up in the morning, and those in the third — ate chocolate an hour before bedtime.
And what is the result? Those who «sinned» with chocolate in the morning consumed 16% fewer calories during the day than those who did not eat sweets. Evening sweet tooth — by 10%.
«The weight of those who ate chocolate did not increase, but the waist size decreased, belly fat disappeared, blood glucose levels normalized,» the researchers say, «it was easier for them to control their appetite, they were not attracted to sweets and the composition of the intestinal microflora improved.»
In addition, those who ate chocolate before going to bed were more active and more cheerful the next day.
