Sarah Konk works as a certified specialist in therapeutic recreation, a 28-year-old girl. At one time she was in Haiti and was able to help a lot of children, both mentally and physically.
But one day there was an incident that completely changed her life. Once a little girl was brought to the medical center where she worked, at that time she was 3 months old. She was in a very serious condition. The baby suffered from a severe form of hydrocephalus, surgery was urgently needed.
The girl’s name was Nika, and she was brought to the hospital by a woman who called herself her aunt.
The baby had an operation, everything went well enough. The doctors were satisfied with Nicky’s condition, she was recovering and preparing for discharge. But there was nowhere to discharge her. The woman who called herself aunt turned out to be her own mother, after she left her daughter in the hospital, she disappeared and no one saw her anymore. Concerned employees of the medical center still managed to find her phone number, they called and asked to pick up the child, but she did not agree to any.
After all, Sarah was able to talk to the grief-stricken mother, convinced her to take her daughter away, promising that she would help financially. Plus, medical care for Niki will always be free.
After a while, Sarah decided to find out about the baby’s condition, she called her mother, but she did not answer the calls. Panic seized her, she was very worried about this child and decided to go straight home to them. What she saw there, Sarah remembered for the rest of her life.
When she entered the house, she found the girl lying on the floor among the garbage and other junk.
Sarah’s terrible fears were confirmed: the mother abandoned the sick child. The woman did not hesitate to take the girl to the hospital. Her condition was very serious, the doctors did not give any predictions. But Nika and Sarah fought with all their might. It’s hard to believe how the baby has changed.
Six months later, Sarah took custody of Nika. When all the documents were in order, the girl went to a new house.
Now she is two years old, and she is very happy, she has everything she needs — a mother with a huge loving heart, her warmth and care.
Very often it happens that the mother is not the one who bore and gave birth to a child, it is a state of mind.
