In 2004, a powerful tsunami occurred in Thailand, which claimed the lives of more than 8.5 thousand people. It was that year that little Amber was on vacation in Phuket with her mother and stepfather. Eight-year-old Amber has enjoyed a holiday at a seaside resort, not even knowing what awaits them in a few days. The girl’s favorite pastime was riding a small elephant, which the owner brought to the hotel every day.
The elephant Ning-Nong these days has already got used to Amber, and it seems that he was also happy with their morning meetings. However, that day, the little elephant was nervous for some reason. People who were resting by the sea suddenly saw how the water had receded several meters. A few laughers ran to pick up shells.
However, the water suddenly started to rise sharply. Amber and Ning-Nong have been doing their «riding» all this time. Suddenly, the little elephant took off and, not listening to the cries of the owner, fled from the shore. As Amber would later admit, it was probably the animal’s reaction that saved her life.
The little elephant made it to the hotel through the ever-increasing current. There, the parents were able to get the little one out of the water. Amber shared her story on social media a few years ago. She wrote that she was very grateful to the animal that saved her life. And unfortunately, he doesn’t know what happened to the little elephant.
Fortunately, finding Ning Nong was not difficult, as all elephants in Phuket have registered passports. It turned out that the cub escaped and grew into a beautiful and friendly adult elephant. She lives with a new owner in a special elephant camp, which is visited by tourists. And after this story was published, even more people appeared who wanted to see the “heroine” on all fours.
