The popularity of a weight loss system based on taking 10,000 steps every day began with singer Rihanna. At some point, she magically built up, and her personal trainer hurried to reveal the secret of the star — they say, go, and you will be happy.
You can’t argue — walking is really useful. This is what both coaches and doctors say: activity is needed not even for the sake of beauty, but for the sake of health. And it’s really possible to lose weight by walking, but for this you need to follow two simple rules.
«The first is to take 8 thousand or more steps a day,» says British nutritionist Susie Lynn. — The second is regularity. Eight thousand steps need to be taken every day, no matter what the weather is outside. If you don’t follow these rules, you can’t count on losing weight.»
According to the doctor, the main problem of her clients is that they try to walk eight, ten, or even fifteen thousand steps a day, and on weekends they break down and sit at home, winding up a maximum of a hundred or two steps around the apartment. And this approach puts an end to all the efforts that a person has made during the week to achieve the cherished goal of harmony.
By the way, another such addiction is cheat-mile. Coaches say that there should be one such day a week when you can afford to relax and eat everything in any quantity. But people usually take it too literally.
«If you stick to a daily calorie intake of 1,500 calories, and then break down to 3,000, the body simply cannot cope with such a load,» explains the nutritionist.
It’s better to eat pizza or sushi on a normal day, and fit them into your daily calorie intake, than to allow yourself such cheats. You can even eat more than usual, but the calorie bust should be no more than 10 percent of the usual norm.
«Be sure to allow yourself goodies. There’s nothing wrong with that. But do not devote the whole day to gluttony, so you will lose weight more slowly, and you will not be able to create proper eating habits,» says Susie Lynn.
