Jessica Satterfield and her husband have been trying to have children for years. But, unfortunately, all their attempts were unsuccessful. Of course, they were very worried about this.
But the husband and wife found a way to realize themselves as parents. They decided to adopt kids from an orphanage. Moreover, the Satterfields have always dreamed of a large and noisy family with several children. Therefore, they took more than one baby from the shelter.
Now they are raising three adopted children. All three children are African—American. Jessica admits that this creates some problems and misunderstandings. But in general, their family is accepted in society normally.
But one day, a boy who was adopted by Satterfield, on the playground, one of the kids asked: “Why don’t you look like mom and dad?” The question was simple, because it was asked by a small child.
Jessica tensed, because this question was asked for the first time. But her adopted son’s response made her shed tears. The boy also ingenuously replied: “It is not necessary for all members of the same family to look the same. The only thing that matters is that we are a real family.”
As they say, “the truth speaks through the mouth of a baby.”
