A case that shocked the French capital: a young migrant, without documents and citizenship, in a spontaneous outburst in front of the crowd, in a matter of seconds and without equipment, climbed to the fourth floor of the building and saved the baby, who hung over the balcony. — Despite the large number of eyewitnesses, the video of Facebook user Habib Bibou has gone viral. After that, everyone congratulated our hero, Mamoud Gassam— journalists, the mayor of Paris, and President Macron himself.
This is 22-year-old Mamoud Gassam, a native of Mali. Six months ago, in search of a better life, he came to France — without documents, money and profession.
Mamoud is physically developed, he wants to become a lifeguard or a firefighter. And he is also reckless in a good way – later, watching the video from the phone of eyewitnesses, the guy admitted that the risk was enormous. But at that moment he didn’t think about anything at all, except that the child needed to be helped as soon as possible.
The video of the heroic rescue of the child has gained millions of views and hundreds of thousands of reposts. And that’s right!
Later it will be estimated that it took Mamoud only 40 seconds to get behind the 4th floor. And this is incredible luck, because it is unlikely that a four-year-old kid would have hung out longer. In the evening of the same day, the migrant was personally called by the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, with words of gratitude.
On Monday, the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, who returned from St. Petersburg, invited Mamoud Gassam to a personal audience, where he promised that as a reward for his heroic act, he had only a few days left to walk as a migrant. Citizenship, work in the Paris Fire Brigade and the status of a national hero from the hands of the head of state. A worthy reward for a brave act!
