The previous record for the birth of a child at the oldest age officially belongs to Maria del Carmen Busada de Lara, who gave birth to twin boys in December 2006 at the age of 66 years and 358 days. The fact of the birth and the age of the mother, due to the unprecedented nature of the event, are precisely established, but everything else is hidden in a heap of scandals and speculation. In particular, due to the age of pregnancy, an in vitro fertilization procedure was required, which Busada de Lara received illegally by lying about her age. In other cases, when women declared childbirth in years, there was also too little documentary evidence and applications were not accepted.
Perhaps that’s why the new contender for the record, Maria de la Luz, is in no hurry to open up. All she is ready to show and tell the media is the presence of pregnancy symptoms, such as toxicosis and weakness in the legs, as well as those ultrasound images from April of this year, they look authentic. If there is no forgery, there are only three months left to wait, the child will surely be born by caesarean section and, in general, local doctors are ready for this. Although they do not cease to wonder, like almost all other residents in the district, how this can happen. De la Luz already has seven children who have grown up a long time ago.
